Support and Be Supported: Nonprofits and the Arts
MFA Photography, Video and Related Media presents Support and Be Supported: Nonprofits and the Arts, a panel discussion featuring several distinct nonprofit organizations coming together to discuss the mission of their organization, their current and future programming goals, and the critical role art not-for-profits play in supporting emerging and mid-career artists. Engaged in a cultural space where commercial and public organizations often do not operate, art nonprofits give voice, mentor, and empower visual artists and stakeholders to advance and change. Photographer and MFA Photo alumni Lucas Thorpe leads a panel discussion with Eve Biddle, Founding Co-Executive Director of the Wassaic Project; Sarah Corpron, Acting Director of Business Services, NYFA; Michael Kamber, Founding Executive Director, Bronx Documentary Center; Skye MacLeod, Associate Director for Adult Education, BRIC; and Libby Pratt, Director, Baxter St. at Camera Club of New York. The group will address topics such as the importance of partnerships, educational program development, branding strategy, fundraising challenges and community advocacy. This panel will give artists and the public insight on how organizations like these function within and bolster an art community.
