Following the success of her first monograph, Cuba: Campo Adentro, Susan Bank's award-winning second title Piercing the Darkness is the result of a decade walking the streets of Havana, Cuba—a "personal reflection of that maddening mythical port city," in Bank's own words, featuring her accomplished black-and-white photography.
