Masters Series: Milton GlaserMILTON GLASER NAMED AS RECIPIENT OF 2ND ANNUAL SCHOOL OF VISUAL ARTS MASTERS SERIES HONORSNEW YORK CITY - THE VISUAL ARTS MUSEUM is pleased to announce that MILTON GLASER will receive this year's annual Masters Series Honors.Milton Glaser's retrospective will be held from October 2 through 21 at the Visual Arts Museum, 209 East 23rd Street in Manhattan. Mr. Glaser is universally credited with single-handedly redefining and expanding the role of the artist/designer. Working in many fields, ranging from art to communication graphics, furnishings and publishing - in each area he is recognized as an innovator and leader. The current exhibit, Mr. Glaser's most complete retrospective in the U.S. since 1984, will include over 200 works representing many of his diverse areas of endeavor.A native of New York City, Mr. Glaser attended the High School of Music and Art at the Cooper Union Art School. In 1954 he co-founded Push Pin Studios with Seymour Chwast. In 1968, he founded New York Magazine with Clay Felker. Since then he has designed innumerable publications around the world. Glaser has been honored with one-man shows at the Museum of Modern Art, the Lincoln Center Gallery, the Pompidou Center in Paris, and the Royal museum in Brussels, and his work is represented in the permanent collections of museums throughout the world. As a teacher, Mr. Glaser has been associated with the School of Visual Arts of over 25 years. Recent critical acclaim has been garnered for Mr. Glaser's work in restaurant design (Aurora and Trattoria dell'Arte) and the much celebrated re-design of the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. Examples of all phases of Glaser's work - from original art prints to photographs of recent design work - will be included in the retrospective.
