My attention goes to the gap between a history and people’s perception of it. This is what created an impact on how institutions restate history when time changes. For example, the shift from the interest of authenticity to the appreciation of minimalism has resulted in the change of statues. In this project, I pretend to be a kind of conservator who arbitrarily decided to use his/her nose as the reference for restoring the antique statues.* The statues represent “history” and the nose refers to any modern interpretation of what they were. I tend to visualize the disconnection between history and the modern way of seeing by making them in different colors (different materials if in real life).
