Please note: Due to the evolving novel coronavirus situation, this event has been canceled.

In this public forum, young, NYC-based artists will discuss and debate key issues in American society and the world. BFA Visual & Critical Studies and the SVA Honors Program invite students from different parts of the political spectrum, in the middle of a contentious primary season, to discuss, "Which way forward?"

Debaters will be tackling three main issues: climate change, student loans and inequality. Each of these is a major crisis touching young people's lives. Can our political system do anything to address them? Panelists will answer questions, offer rebuttals and have a chance to weigh in on which presidential contender will make things better.

Come to watch a heated debate, learn something new, decide how you’ll vote in April and November and maybe even get involved! RSVP here.

Panelists include:

-Ameerah Joseph (Honors, first-year student, Yang supporter)

-Julianna Ham (BFA Visual & Critical Studies, third year, member of SVA's Young Democratic Socialists of America)

-Kenneth Varvel (BFA Film alumnus, BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects program staff member)

-Townes Nelson (Columbia undergraduate student, member of the Sunrise Movement)

Free and open to the public
