Pre-College Code of Conduct Agreement
ALL Students and Parent(s)/(Guardian(s) Must Read and Submit Form.
The purpose of the Pre-College Program is for students to create artwork and become more familiar with the School of Visual Arts. During the program, students will meet faculty, meet their peers, and take advantage of the New York City cultural environment that School of Visual Arts calls its campus.
It is very important for everyone involved in the program to be respectful, considerate and kind to all. Any form of intimidation or bullying is prohibited and is grounds for dismissal.
Policy applies to all SVA classrooms, residence halls and sponsored activities.
- Disorderly, disruptive or aggressive behavior that interferes with the general comfort, safety, security, health, welfare or education of a member of the SVA community including the Pre-College community or the regular operation of the College.
- Damage, destruction or removal of another student’s work or property.
- Unauthorized entry or misuse of College property.
- Vandalism or damage to personal or SVA property.
- Use of spray paint, spray adhesive, toxic glue or spray glue in any SVA building, including but not limited to classrooms, studios, offices, residence halls, common spaces and stairwells.
- Engaging in, or threatening to engage in, any behavior that endangers the health or safety of another person, property or oneself.
- Physical violence, actual or threatened, against any individual or group of persons.
- Violation of the College policy on discrimination and harassment.
- Violation of the College policy on sexual misconduct.
- Engaging in sexual behavior is prohibited and is grounds for dismissal from the Pre-College Program.
- Use, possession or storage of any weapon, including but not limited to self-defense spray devices, dangerous chemical, fireworks or explosives, regardless of the presence of a state or federal license to possess same.
- The possession of pets or animals is strictly prohibited.
- Possession or use of a hoverboard or similar self-balancing scooter.
- Violation of the College alcohol, drug or smoking policy.
- Possession, distribution or being under the influence of alcohol, narcotics and other controlled substances including empty containers on College grounds is forbidden and will be grounds for dismissal from the Pre-College Program.
- Theft of services or property, including failure to report knowledge of possession of stolen property.
- Disrespect to any member of the SVA community including the Pre-College community, including models, and/or failure to comply with the lawful directions of Pre-College staff.
- Inappropriate use of mobile devices in the classroom.
- Failure to comply with the authorized request of an administrative representative of the Pre-College Program and other College personnel, including but not limited to staff members of Student Affairs, Residence Life, Security or Facilities.
- Attempting to commit an act that violates the Pre-College Code of Conduct.
- Assisting another student to commit an act that violates the Pre-College Code of Conduct.
- The School of Visual Arts reserves the right to immediately dismiss a student for dangerous or disruptive behavior in the classroom or on sponsored activities, or intimidation of any kind, or for damage to the premises.
- Parents/guardians will be notified by Pre-College staff of any policy violations.
- Students found in violation of the Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the Pre-College Program immediately.

Please note: You will not be able to register for a course without acknowledging and agreeing to the SVA policies stipulated in this agreement.
