Two MFA Social Documentary Film cinematographers have their films nominated for Peabody Awards in the documentary category: Lucy & Desi and Aftershock. Faculty member Axel Baumann is cinematographer for Lucy & Desi, a film about TV’s most powerful couple in the 1950s, comedians Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz; the film’s crew also includes additional editor Inaya Graciana Yusuf (2013). Aftershock was filmed by Jenni Morello (2011) and follows the story of two young black women who died from childbirth complications and how their families galvanize activists, birth workers and physicians to face America’s grave maternal health crisis. Aftershock’s crew also includes assistant producer Yuby Hernandez (2020).
