Art and Activism: Takin' it to the Streets
SVA’s Division of Continuing Education recently celebrated their 3rd annual Art & Activism event at the famed SVA Theatre, moderated by media personality Valerie Smaldone. This year, we celebrated the power of collectives, performance as political activism, and artistic activations of public space. Honored guests included representatives from the Sing for Hope organization, Hetrick-Martin Institute for LGBTQ youth, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Percent for Art program, MOVE design collective, Photographer, Stacy Mehrfar and a dedicated community of artists and performers who raised the roof to embody the immense power of art and design activism.
