Five Instagram Accounts to Follow for April

Check out the imaginative and high-profile work of five SVA undergraduates to watch.

April is here, ushering in the beginning of spring and the last few weeks of the 2024–25 academic year at the School of Visual Arts. As SVA students prepare to graduate and pursue their chosen careers or advance to the next stage of their education, we have selected five Instagram accounts that embody the talent and achievement of the College’s undergraduate classes.

1. Zina Zhao (BFA Advertising)

Zina Zhao is a New York City- and Connecticut-based aspiring art director and designer who describes her work as “seeking ways to push my brain to new and unexpected limits.” Follow her at @inohaiz.

2. Sue Kim (BFA Illustration)

South Korean, New York City-based illustrator Sue Kim enjoys drawing art of performers and characters from shows, movies, and books. Her style features distinctive line art, bright colors, pastel-like textures, and references to Korean culture. Follow her at @sansa_sue.

3. Ry Hausenaur (BFA Comics)

Ry Hausenaur is a comics artist and screen-printer originally from Toledo, Ohio, now living in Brooklyn. They are also an SVA student worker who is often featured on the College’s TikTok and Instagram channels. Follow them at @lunalemoney.

4. Việt Thành (Tom) Nguyễn (BFA 3D Animation and Visual Effects)

Việt Thành (Tom) Nguyễn is a 3D animator, illustrator, and painter Vietnamese artist now living and studying in New York City. He enjoys creating fan art for his favorite shows, movies, and comics, and you can often find him working on projects after hours in the 3D Animation and Visual Effects labs. 5. Schantelle Alonzo (BFA Animation)

Schantelle Alonzo, known online as Mishipiku, is a Filipina American multidisciplinary story artist and 2D animator with roots in Chicago. Her artistic mission is to share the stories of underrepresented communities and immigrants, which she expresses through webcomics, animated shorts, and community murals. Alonzo has served in various student-leadership roles at SVA including as an orientation leader at last year’s Welcome Week, and was recently a featured panelist at SVA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’s TEDx SVA Women: The Intersection of Art and Gender event.
