BFA Visual & Critical Studies presents “Another Last Dance,” a multi-event open studios on Thursday, April 27, 5:00 – 8:00pm.

The annual BFA Visual & Critical Studies open studios features the work of current seniors, juniors and other underclassmen in the 4th floor studios, hallways and ground floor gallery, the SVA Flatiron Project Space. This year, the open studios will include a series of special screenings, immersive installations and performances along with a book fundraiser, Hands Off My Books, organized by faculty member Peter Hristoff (BFA 1981 Fine Arts).

Performances will take place in room 405C at the following times:

  • Siren floor by Morgan Frey at 6:30pm
  • Como La Flor by Lucy Gaehring at 7:00pm

Hands Off My Books, an art book/monograph sale in the 4th floor library, will include volumes priced at $1.00. All proceeds go to support Books Unbanned, the online library created to make “banned books” available. All books for sale are donated by faculty of the School of Visual Arts and the VCS library.

Concurrently, BFA Visual & Critical Studies is hosting the opening reception of “Intimate Documents.” On exhibit in the SVA Flatiron Project Space, “Intimate Documents” features the work of the graduating seniors. Usually, the graduating seniors reveal an array of urges and temperaments. There is often work relating to political, psychological and social issues as well as art history. This year, as diverse as the individuals appear, kiarita, Selena Lin, Jeans O'Donnel, Inna Smolina and Bella Ybarra share an inclination to personal reflection and storytelling. Introspection has overcome activism. More information on the exhibition can be found here.

The Flatiron Project Space is open Monday through Sunday, 10:00am to 6:00pm, to all SVA students, faculty and staff. The public may visit by showing proof of full vaccination (including booster, if eligible) and photo ID. All visitors to the SVA Flatiron Gallery and open studios must pre-register through eventbrite.

Free and open to the public
