Becoming personally inoculated to the external forces that demand resilience is not interesting to me because it does not address those forces or the structures those forces protect. Instead solidarity with an effort to confront and change those forces is a better use of energy although it may in the short term make one harbor frustrations.
As I was struggling to write this statement I tripped on my laptop cord. The cord detached from the laptop and the laptop did not fall off the bed. If I yanked the laptop to the floor and it broke, I would be less able to be resilient than I had been just moments before. Because of my various responsibilities, successful resilience is dependent upon my access to this laptop. This is the reality of the fragility of my resilience at this moment.
In the meantime, it is most appropriate to present this drawing in the environment it was created. It is not a statement on resilience in and of itself.
