Jyoon Hurr’s paintings and drawings are reminiscent of the energy behind post-war painting movements such as abstract expressionism or post-war painters such as Arshile Gorky, Roberto Matta or the Gutai. With a frenetic mark-making quality, she unpacks deeply-felt emotional surges onto large-scale canvases often incorporating mostly black paint.
