Kara Rooney on adding vulnerability to performance

MFA Fine Arts faculty member Kara Rooney (MFA 2008 Art Writing and Criticism) discusses how improvisation is incorporated into her multidisciplinary performance work in this short video excerpt from her January 2016 talk.

Rooney is a Brooklyn-based artist and critic working in performance, sculpture and new media installation. Her work has been exhibited at A.I.R. Gallery, Brian Morris Gallery, the Chelsea Art Museum, Driscoll Babcock Gallery, the International Women’s Museum, California, the Jersey City Museum, New Jersey, the Montclair Art Museum, New Jersey, and the Pera Museum, Istanbul. Rooney is managing art editor at The Brooklyn Rail, and her writing has appeared in Art in America , Hyperallergic and M/E/A/N/I/N/G.
