The School of Visual Arts and BFA Photography and Video present Untitled (Gender and Representation) 2016, a day long symposium featuring Kate Bornstein, Zackary Drucker, Grace Dunham, Zanele Muholi, Ethan James Green, Ron Gregg, M. Lamar and others to be announced. The conference will take place at the SVA Theatre on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 10am - 7pm.

Untitled (Gender and Representation) 2016, seeks to address the complex conversations on gender that have dominated both high and low culture in the last several years and the ways in which representation has significantly participated in the discourse. The conference will include panels on queer histories and photography, gender outlaws, fashion and gender, transfeminism, and gender and performance.

The conference is organized by Stephen Frailey, chair of the BFA Photography and Video department and co-chair of the MPS Fashion Photography at SVA, and Joseph Maida, faculty member and creator of the course The New Hegemonic: Gender, Race, Ethnicity, and Sexuality in America.
