Kaijie Chen writes:

Unusual Beauty is a collection created after witnessing someone close to me struggling with a mental disorder. I tried to cultivate an unusual and wild beauty of mental disorder and considered an alternative perspective than the general stigmas. The concept was developed into two directions: the illusion perspective created by people who have mental disorders, achieved through camouflage text, melting metal and glitchy art effects; the other being playful looks of the brain and nerves —such as the brain exploding and of the twisting mind.

Grow is a concept that explores the expressive possibilities offered by motion graphics to create unique dynamic and surreal surface imaging for skateboards. It blends the beauty, play and abstractions of art, thereby creating a product that inspires the backdrops of our lives. Patterns on Individual boards are cropped from a motion graphic video I made.
