Diversity In 3D: Juneteenth, An Authentic African American Narrative

This podcast will address the significance of Juneteenth and its importance in being included, recognized and respected as not just a state holiday but as an African American narrative. It not only speaks to the experiences and historical legacy of Black/African American people in America, but it also reflects on the institution of slavery that has social, cultural and economic impacts on this country and the world. On the heels of Juneteenth—and the breaking news of it becoming a national holiday—I asked my esteemed colleagues and experts on Black/African American history, Dr. Zebulon Miletsky and Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, to join me to discuss topics regarding the history of Juneteenth, its historical significance, and how art is integral in sharing authentic narratives.
