The 2023 – 2024 academic year may have just concluded, but a busy summer is already ramping up at the School of Visual Arts, with a stimulating slate of free talks this month from an impressive array of photographers, curators, designers and visual artists.

The long-running i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series (much of which is available on YouTube and Vimeo), hosted by the MPS Digital Photography program, welcomes shape-shifting and much buzzed-about photographer Angela Capetta (BFA 1992 Photography), whose work ranges from New York Fashion Week behind-the-scenes shots to fine art in museum collections. Currently at work on her first monograph with L’Artiere Edizioni, called Glendalis, based on a series profiled not long ago in The New Yorker, Capetta is a NYFA Fellow and three-time MacDowell Fellow. She'll be at 136 West 21st Street, Room 418F, at 7:00pm tonight, June 11.

On the occasion of “The Publicsfear Archive,” his exhibition at Printed Matter this summer, Brooklyn-based creator Tod Lippy (Esopus, Scenario: The Magazine of Screenwriting Art, publicsfear magazine) will join MFA Visual Narrative for its annual Storyteller’s Series on Thursday, June 13, 11:00am, at the SVA Library, 380 Second Ave, 2nd floor. Lippy will discuss his practice in publishing and photography, among other topics.
