From New York Post: “When the rigors and solitude of being a fine-art painter wore on Christina J. Wang, she traded in mixing paints and stretching canvas for the world of wearable art.

The 29-year-old, who has an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, applied pencil-and-crayon-drawn images to scarves, and launched her eponymous label in 2014.

'It felt really lonely to be in the studio by myself,' says the Hong Kong native, who spent years inside her Bushwick studio making paintings of button-down shirts and stacks of cashmere from the J. Crew catalog. 'I was missing that personal connection and [being able to] have a dialogue. The scarves are quick, fun and immediate.'

Wang began her line of scarves, which are made in China using materials ranging from Australian featherweight wool, to twill silk, to cashmere, by channeling her love of consumer products: She draws everyday objects such as Shu Uemura hair products and ramen noodles, Birkenstock sandals and Momofuku Milk Bar cakes.

Her quirky creations are sold at high-end stores such as Kirna Zabête, Lane Crawford and Harvey Nichols. Taraji P. Henson is a fan, and singer Andra Day sported one during her performance at the Democratic National Convention last summer…" (For the full story and more images, click here)
