Since 1976, the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) has established itself as one of the world’s premier animation events. Each year, the festival draws artists, filmmakers, producers, students, and animation enthusiasts from around the globe for a five-day celebration of creativity.

This year, the School of Visual Arts was well-represented by two departments. As chair of BFA Animation, I attended along with BFA Animation Director of Operations Angelica Vergel and five program students. MFA Computer Arts—of which I am a 2008 alumnus—was represented by its Assistant to the Chair (and 2022 program graduate) India Lombardi-Bello, Academic Advisor and Curriculum Coordinator Lotte Marie Allen, faculty member Lisa LaBracio (BFA 2006 Animation), and two program students.

A contingent of BFA Animation and MFA Computer Arts students, faculty, and staff took part in five days of screenings, talks, and other events.
