BFA Animation students Matthew Hill, Alex Stanchfield and Alexa Swanson have been selected to participate in Cartoon Network’s first-ever Animation Jam, taking place July 9 – 11 at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, California. Along with three-person student teams from just seven other colleges, the SVA trio will create an original 15-second animation short based on the immersive world of O.K. KO! Let’s Be Heroes, created by SVA alumnus Ian Jones-Quartey (BFA 2006 Animation) and stemming from work he generated in Cartoon Network Studios′ acclaimed Shorts Program.

“We want to give students an opportunity to experience the world-building process that is unique to O.K. KO!” said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network. Jones-Quartey and other mentors, writers, storyboard artists and animation professionals will help guide the teams, and the students will be provided with all the necessary materials to create the animation. All the final animation created during the jam will be showcased at Cartoon Network Studios on Monday, July 11, and the students will have the opportunity to meet other artists from the studios′ various shows.

Congrats to all the students and good luck this weekend!
