The Red Sea Poem
Pig iron
On top, the brightest light
Like the red tide
which isn’t ironic
Some people may say
Juicy, luscious, roasted
others
what cruel cruel animals
are human beings
Both sides aren’t right
Or wrong
Fascination covers
Little boy Raj
Hands cupped over his mouth
He can’t stop staring
Thinking,
will we eat that red?
Ari, stands on edge
Excited, but also
no, mainly excited
yes, we get to eat the juice
