The fall/winter 2024–25 issue of the Visual Arts Journal, the biannual magazine of the School of Visual Arts, is now available for free in building lobbies and other locations on the SVA campus.

The Journal is also mailed to U.S.–based alumni and parents of current students—who will be receiving their copies in the coming days—and offered to all in digital format on Issuu, which is also home to back issues of the magazine dating to 2012.

  • the little-known story of the late, mysterious psychedelic musician Harumi (1965 Advertising);
  • a look at the perils and promises of generative AI in the education and practice of art and design;
  • scenes of daily life at the U.S.–Mexico border, observed and drawn by artist Steve Mumford (MFA 1994 Fine Arts);
  • an interview with Todd Radom (BFA 1986 Media Arts), the designer behind some of your favorite sports teams’ identities.
