You could be the one telling the story. Join SVA's MFA Social Documentary Film program and get on the fast track to a non-fiction filmmaking career.


Applications for the Fall 2023 cohort are now open. Although the Priority Deadline of Jan 15 has passed, we are still taking applications until the program is full. Apply by March 1 to be eligible for SocDoc Department Scholarships.


- in person at our department offices in Chelsea, or via video chat now. We encourage all interested parties to meet with us so we can answer your questions about the program, and talk about how SocDoc can support your creative and career goals.


Potential applicants can also sit in on classes, and meet faculty and alumni to talk about their experience in the program.

NEW! The Denver Grad Admissions Forum includes SocDoc alum Melanie McLean Brooks talking about her career as a cinematographer and director for various documentary and commercial projects, including "RuPaul's Drag Race." November 9 at the Denver Art Museum.


Attendees to SocDoc Online Info Sessions, or to Graduate Admissions Preview Nights or Application Q&A Sessions will receive an $80 application fee waiver if they apply for Fall 2023 admission. (Note: This waiver will be applied to the email address used to register for these events. It is important to use the same email address consistently throughout the entire application process.)
