Autumn has arrived at the School of Visual Arts: The leaves are turning; the weather has cooled; the fall/winter 2021 issue of the Visual Arts Journal, the College’s magazine, is here.
The fall/winter 2021 Journal marks a return to a print edition of the magazine, after the spring/summer 2021 issue was published exclusively online. Copies are available at various locations on campus and mailed to alumni all over the world, and a digital version is available on the Journal’s Issuu page, where visitors can read, share or download the magazine as a PDF.
Highlights from the latest Journal include:
- surreal and epic paintings and drawings by artist Mu Pan (MFA 2007 Illustration as Visual Essay; BFA 2001 Illustration);
- spotlights on three alumni who live and work in New Orleans, with graduates from the BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects and BFA Design programs;
- a look at the art, craft and history of ceramics, with graduates and faculty from the MFA Art Practice, BFA Illustration, Continuing Education, and BFA and MFA Fine Arts programs;
- first-person accounts from SVA alumni who work in the film and television industry, with graduates from the BFA Cartooning; BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects; BFA Film; BFA Fine Arts; and MFA Photography, Video and Related Media programs;
- a Q+A with Storm Ascher (BFA 2018 Visual & Critical Studies), founder of the “nomadic” gallery, Superposition.
