The excitement level was through the roof at SVA this past week as the College welcomed new undergraduate and graduate students with in-person information sessions, virtual events, facilities tours, and fun social activities. SVA Student Affairs primed the students for the school year with weeks of orientation blog content leading up to Welcome Week, hosted in Canvas this year. The blog covered a wide range of topics, from SVA’s history to navigating NYC, financial aid, academic resources, student life, and more.

Welcome Week was a time of fun and support for our new-to-campus students. After a busy but orderly move-in at the residence halls, students were treated to a range of enjoyable events, including drag queen bingo, a comedy night, karaoke night, a dance party hosted by WSVA (SVA’s student-run radio station), an Amazing Race event and a back-to-school raffle with the SVA Campus Store. Students were also introduced to the essential resources offered by various offices, such as the International Student Office (ISO), the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Student Health and Counseling Services, Student Engagement and Leadership, SVA Library, and Career Development.

Below is a photo gallery from this exciting first week at SVA. Best of luck to all with the new semester—and here’s to staying safe and being there for one another throughout the year!
